Ekiti Guber: Gov Oyebanji Scores Landslide Victory at Bamidele’s Polling Unit
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and incumbent Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, secured a landslide victory at the polling unit of the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele.
Announcing the results on Saturday, the Presiding Officer, Elizabeth Oregbemeh, said Oyebanji polled 164 votes to defeat his closest challenger, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr Wole Oluyede, who secured eight votes.
Oregbemeh added that the Action Democratic Party (ADP) governorship candidate, Ayodeji Ojo, came a distant third with one vote.
Earlier, Bamidele expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the governorship election, commending voters for their turnout across the state.
He also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the timely deployment of electoral officials and materials to polling units across the state’s 16 local government areas.
According to INEC, 1,028,929 of the 1,059,360 registered voters in Ekiti State collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
