We Will Vehemently Resist Any Attempt to Rig 2027 Election — Dino Melaye Declares

Former federal lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, has alleged that Nigeria could face political unrest if the 2027 general election is manipulated in favour of President Bola Tinubu.
Melaye, in a video obtained by Politcs Nigeria on his Facebook page on Saturday, warned that any attempt to rig the election would be strongly resisted by the opposition.
He expressed concern that electoral manipulation could plunge the country into crisis, insisting that the opposition would not accept any outcome it believes lacks credibility.
“My fear is very simple: Tinubu may lead this country to a war path because he will try to rig the election, but there will be vehement resistance,” Melaye said.
He further claimed that such a situation could force a president to flee office, adding that the opposition remained determined to challenge any alleged attempt to undermine the electoral process.
“At the end of the day, we may have a president who will run away because we are not backing down,” he said.
“We are with the people and we will speak as the people. Those in power in this country are less than one percent of the population.
“It is an absurdity that one percent is oppressing 99 percent. We will prove that what happened in Indonesia can happen in Nigeria,” he added.
Melaye, however, did not provide evidence to support his claims or explain what specific events in Indonesia he was referring to.
