APC Victory in Ekiti, Bye-Elections Shows Vote of Confidence in Tinubu’s Reforms — Yilwatda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has described Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election in Ekiti State, alongside the party’s strong performance in recent bye-elections nationwide, as a clear endorsement of the APC and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement signed by Abimbola Tooki, Special Adviser to the APC National Chairman, Yilwatda said the results underscore growing public confidence in the party’s leadership approach.
“The overwhelming victory recorded by our great party in Ekiti State and our strong performance in bye-elections across the country represent a firm endorsement of the APC’s governance philosophy,” he said.
“These outcomes show that Nigerians value leadership that prioritises development, accountability, stability, and citizens’ welfare.
“The people of Ekiti State have once again demonstrated that performance is the most persuasive campaign message in democratic politics.
“Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election reflects appreciation for his inclusive leadership, prudent resource management, and visible developmental strides across the state.”
Governor Oyebanji, under the APC, was declared winner of the Ekiti governorship election after securing a decisive victory across the state. The party also recorded wins in five of the six bye-elections held in different parts of the country.
Yilwatda noted that the Ekiti result further reinforces the APC’s position that performance-driven governance remains electorally rewarding, even during periods of economic adjustment.
“The Ekiti election has become a national reference point. It shows that when governments deliver tangible results in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, security, and social welfare, citizens respond with trust and strong electoral support.
“This victory sends a clear message that governance, not propaganda, is the most effective path to political legitimacy. The people of Ekiti have clearly chosen continuity, stability, and progress,” he added.
The APC National Chairman described Ekiti State under Governor Oyebanji as a strong example of effective governance, pointing to investments in road infrastructure, rural development, human capital, healthcare, agriculture, workers’ welfare, and ease of doing business.
He said the administration has built broad-based support while maintaining a strong focus on development outcomes, fostering stability and accelerated progress.
“Ekiti today stands as a model of how APC-led governments are translating public trust into measurable development. The state’s progress under Governor Oyebanji demonstrates our party’s commitment to people-centred governance,” he stated.
Yilwatda also said the election outcome should be viewed in the broader context of President Tinubu’s reform agenda, which he said is gradually laying the groundwork for a more resilient, productive, and globally competitive Nigerian economy.
