“We promised a government that listens” – President Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to a government that listens, plans, and delivers good governance to the people.
He also declared an end to the long-standing neglect of the Federal Capital Territory’s satellite communities.
Speaking at the commissioning of a major water supply network serving Karu, Orozo, Jikwoyi, Kurudu and surrounding suburbs, the President said the project fulfils a key covenant with Nigerians under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, President Tinubu described the initiative as a direct response to the needs of working-class communities long overlooked in the capital’s development.
“We promised a government that listens, a government that plans, and, crucially, a government that delivers.
“We are here not just to cut a ribbon, but to breathe life into a fundamental human right that has eluded this bustling community for far too long. Today, we declare that the era of neglect for our satellite towns is officially over,” Shettima said.
The new network comprises over 194 kilometres of secondary and tertiary pipelines, delivering treated, potable water directly to residents who previously depended on unsafe boreholes and commercial water vendors.
The project extends the earlier Greater Abuja Water Supply initiative, pushing critical infrastructure beyond the elite districts into densely populated suburbs.
President Tinubu commended the FCT Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike — whom he described as “Mr Projects” — for his relentless drive in delivering tangible infrastructure across transport, healthcare, education, housing, roads, and water supply.
