President Tinubu Assents to NIMC Act 2026

President Bola Tinubu has signed the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Act 2026 into law.

The President assented to the legislation on Friday at the State House, Abuja.

The development was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on his verified X handle.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assented to the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Act 2026, in the State House on Friday,” Onanuga wrote.

The new law is expected to provide the legal framework for the operations of the National Identity Management Commission and strengthen Nigeria’s national identity management system.

Further details surrounding the provisions of the Act are expected to emerge.
