JUST IN: ADC Uploads Atiku, Amaechi’s Names to INEC Nomination Portal

The African Democratic Congress has submitted the names and credentials of Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi as its presidential and vice-presidential candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission nomination portal ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The submission was confirmed on Wednesday morning by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, through an update on social media.

“We are pleased to announce that we have successfully uploaded the names and particulars of the African Democratic Congress Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and our Vice Presidential Candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, to the nomination portal of the INEC,” Abdullahi stated.

He added, “This marks another important step in our preparations for the 2027 general election and our commitment to offer Nigerians a credible alternative built on competence, unity, and national renewal.”

Atiku secured the party’s presidential ticket in May after winning the primary election, which also featured Amaechi as a contender. Following the primary, party stakeholders and state chapters reached a broad consensus to select Amaechi, a former Minister of Transportation and two-term governor of Rivers State, as the running mate.

The pairing is seen by party leadership as a strategic move to balance the ticket geographically by combining a seasoned administrator from the North-East with a prominent political figure from the South-South region.

This newspaper reported earlier that the Nigeria Democratic Congress has also uploaded the names of its flagbearers despite a pending legal tussle over its registration status.

This was disclosed by the party’s national leader, Seriake Dickson, on Tuesday.
