Atiku condoles ADC guber candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour over mother’s death

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has extended condolences to the family of African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, following the death of his mother, Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour.

In a statement issued on Monday, July 13, 2026, Atiku expressed deep sadness over the loss.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Mrs. Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour, beloved mother of the ADC Governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to Gbadebo, the Rhodes-Vivour family, and all who mourn her passing. At moments like this, no words can truly ease the pain of losing a loved one,” he said.

Atiku, the ADC’s 2027 presidential candidate, also prayed for the repose of the deceased.

“I pray that the Almighty God grants her eternal mercy, forgives her shortcomings, and comforts the family with the strength and patience to bear this profound loss. May her soul rest in perfect peace,” he stated.

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV) had announced his mother’s passing on X.

The family statement, signed on behalf of the family by Olawale Rhodes-Vivour, read, “With sadness in our hearts and gratitude to God for a life well spent, we announce the call to glory of Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour (née Waboso).

“A loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. The epitome of love. She will be sorely missed. May her beautiful soul rest in perfect peace.”

The family said funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
