Nothing Can Stop APC from Winning Osun Election – Nat’l Chairman Yilwatda Declares

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence that the ruling party will emerge victorious in the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State, declaring that no obstacle can prevent the party from reclaiming power in the state.

Yilwatda made the declaration in Abuja during the inauguration of the APC Governorship Campaign Council for the forthcoming election.

The event brought together party leaders, governors, members of the National Assembly and other stakeholders charged with coordinating the party’s campaign efforts ahead of the poll.

The APC chairman said the party possesses the political experience, organisational strength and nationwide structure required to win elections at all levels.

According to him, the APC remains the political party with the largest concentration of elected and former office holders across the country.

“If there is any political party in Nigeria that has human resources in abundance, it is the APC. If there is any political party that has the most experienced politicians in Nigeria, it is the APC,” he said.

“No political party can boast of the number of governors, National Assembly members, local government chairmen, councillors, former governors, and former National Assembly members that we have. We have them in abundance.”

Yilwatda maintained that the composition of the campaign council reflected the party’s determination to secure victory in Osun.

He noted that members were carefully selected to ensure effective mobilisation of resources and proper coordination of campaign activities across the state.

“The APC has all it takes to win elections in Nigeria. From councillorship elections to local government elections, National Assembly elections, House of Assembly elections, governorship elections, and ultimately the presidential election in 2027,” he stated.

“Looking at the calibre of people we have selected in this room from the governors to members of the National Assembly, members of the National Working Committee, and all the committees represented here, nothing will stop us from taking over the Government House on August 15, 2026.”

The APC chairman described the Osun election as a major political test for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said the governorship contest would serve as a rehearsal for the political machinery being assembled for future national contests.

“This will be our practice ground. It will be our rehearsal for the political machine we are preparing for 2027,” he said.

“That is why winning the Osun election is a must for the APC. The party will mobilise resources, coordinate our people, and move into Osun in large numbers after this inauguration.”

He further disclosed that the party would embark on aggressive grassroots mobilisation across the state in an effort to attract more support from voters.

Chairman of the campaign council and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, said members of the council were prepared to deliver on the assignment entrusted to them.

“This inauguration is another call to service, one that we are happy, ready and willing to undertake,” Uzodimma said.

“Our assignment is clear: to listen to the people of Osun State, speak to their hopes and aspirations, earn their confidence and convince them to vote for the APC and our governorship candidate.”

The APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Oyebamiji, also expressed confidence in the party’s chances, describing the council as a team made up of experienced political leaders capable of securing victory.

He said the party had continued to take its message across communities in the state since his emergence as candidate.

“Since my emergence as the governorship candidate of our great party last year, our campaign team, with the active participation of my co-aspirants, who have taken up critical roles, has taken our message of prosperity, good governance and Renewed Hope to every corner of Osun State,” Oyebamiji said.

However, the APC’s optimism has been met with resistance from supporters of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The Imole Campaign Council dismissed Yilwatda claims, insisting that political structures alone do not determine election outcomes.

In a statement issued by the Chairman of its Media and Publicity Committee, Hon. Bamidele Salam, the council argued that the people of Osun would decide the election based on their assessment of the current administration rather than the number of political figures assembled by any party.

The council said voters in the state could not be influenced by displays of political strength from outside Osun.

According to the statement, electoral success depends on the will of the people and not on the size of a party network of governors, lawmakers or office holders.

Meanwhile, the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, also weighed in on Osun Election during the commissioning of a road project in Ede.

The monarch appealed to President Bola Tinubu to ensure a free and fair election, urging that voters be allowed to make their choices without interference.

“He should leave us alone and allow each of us to vote where we so desire,” the monarch said while addressing residents and political supporters at the event.

Governor Adeleke, who attended the commissioning, listed infrastructure projects undertaken by his administration and said his government remained focused on delivering development across Osun State.
