2027: Tinubu Support Group Rejects Alliance With Soludo, APGA

The Tinubu Support Group (TSG) in the South-East has rejected an alleged political alliance between President Bola Tinubu and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, insisting that its members will support candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across all elective positions in the 2027 general elections.

The group declared its position during a rally held in Awka, Anambra State, over the weekend.

Its members said they would vote for Tinubu and other APC candidates rather than support an arrangement that would see the president receive their backing while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) takes control of other elective positions in the state.

The declaration comes despite Soludo’s inclusion in the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) as the state coordinator for Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

The rally was organised by Sir Paul Chukwuma, an APC chieftain and Deputy Coordinator of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council in the South-East.

Addressing supporters at the gathering, Chukwuma maintained that the group would not enter into a political partnership with Soludo or APGA that could weaken the APC’s chances in other elections.

He urged members to remain loyal to their party and work towards securing victories for its candidates at the presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives and state assembly levels.

“What I want to tell you people is that in the forthcoming election, it is APC from top to bottom. Progressives are working together is a deceptive slogan APGA is using to deceive Mr President. Next year, we will vote for only our party and that is the charge.”

Chukwuma’s remarks reflected the group’s opposition to the idea of separating support for the presidential candidate from support for candidates contesting other positions.

He insisted that APC members in the South-East must not allow political arrangements with other parties to determine how they cast their votes in 2027.

The rally attracted supporters from across the five South-East states of Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu and Abia.

The participants were mobilised to demonstrate support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition and the APC’s efforts to strengthen its political presence in the region.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, was among the prominent APC figures who addressed the gathering.

Kalu expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure substantial support in the South-East, arguing that the president’s actions and policies in the region would influence voters in the forthcoming election.

“Tinubu has no opposition in the forthcoming presidential election, what he has done for South-east would give him massive votes in the five South-east states.

“I maintain that the mantra of progressives working together is deceptive, I’m calling on APC members to stamp their authority in 2027 in making sure Mr. President sweeps the zone.”

Uche Ekwunife, the APC senatorial candidate for Anambra Central, also attended the rally alongside other party stakeholders.

Those who spoke at the event called on supporters to back Tinubu and APC candidates contesting legislative and other elective positions in the state.

The speakers maintained that the party needed a united electoral strategy to improve its chances in the South-East, where the APC faces competition from established regional political structures and opposition parties.

They urged members to begin mobilising voters ahead of the elections rather than wait until the formal campaign period.
