Tinubu Camp Fires Atiku, ADC For Spreading Fake News Ahead Of Kaduna Rally
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has accused the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, of spreading fake news to discredit President Bola Tinubu and the party’s campaign rally in Kaduna.
Politics Nigeria reports that the council’s spokesperson, Dele Alake, stated this in a statement on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
He claimed that Atiku and the ADC had coordinated a misinformation campaign ahead of the rally.
Alake alleged that the opposition had deployed manipulated images, false documents, artificial intelligence-generated content and deepfake videos to undermine Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna and other APC leaders.
He said, “We have uncovered a well-orchestrated, devious plan by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and his party to discredit the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna today, Saturday, October 24th, 2026.”
According to Alake, the alleged campaign began with the circulation of a photograph showing a security vehicle stationed near an APC campaign billboard in Kaduna metropolis.
He claimed that the former vice president and the ADC misrepresented the photograph by suggesting that security personnel had been deployed to protect the party’s billboards.
“Through subterfuge and mindless propaganda, the former Vice President and the African Democratic Congress have perfected their plans to misinform and disinform the public,” he said.
Alake further alleged that the opposition amplified the report through Atiku’s official social media accounts after it appeared in a national newspaper.
He also accused the opposition of circulating a purported letter from Governor Uba Sani to the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, claiming that the Kaduna State Government had released N2.3 trillion to host the rally.
Dismissing the alleged expenditure as false, Alake questioned how a state government could spend such an amount on a political rally.
“How much is the entire annual revenue of Kaduna State, or any state, for that matter, that a state would spend N2.3 trillion to host a rally?” he asked.
He added that the amount being circulated was higher than Kaduna State’s combined budgets for 2024, 2025 and 2026.
Alake put the state’s budgets for the three years at N458.271 billion, N790.439 billion and N985.9 billion, respectively.
“The N2.3 trillion that Atiku and his hirelings are circulating online is more than Kaduna State’s annual budget for three years,” he said.
The APC campaign council spokesperson also alleged that Atiku and ADC supporters planned to circulate old footage, doctored videos and deepfakes during the rally to portray residents as opposing the ruling party.
“We know these two scenarios are only a part of the grand plan,” Alake said.

“The ADC and Atiku’s hirelings have also perfected plans to circulate old, doctored, and deepfake videos as the rally gets underway later today to show purported resentment by the people.”
He urged Nigerians to be vigilant against what he described as attempts to manipulate public opinion ahead of the 2027 general election.
“We urge Nigerians to be vigilant and reject their machinations,” he said.
Alake also criticised Atiku and the ADC, alleging that they were prepared to use disinformation in their bid to gain political power.
