Tinubu Is Not Preparing For Election – Sowore Raises Fresh Alarm
Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of preparing to manipulate the 2027 general elections rather than participate in a credible electoral process.
Sowore alleged that the judiciary had been hijacked, mainstream media captured and political opponents subjected to increasing violence, warning that the situation posed a threat to Nigeria’s democracy.
The activist made the allegations in a post on his X account, where he called on Nigerians to begin preparing for what he described as a revolution to reclaim their rights and the country.
According to him, recent developments in the country’s political environment suggest that the President is not preparing for a competitive election.
“After witnessing the complete hijacking of the judiciary, the capture of mainstream media, and the unprecedented wave of violence against political opponents, one thing is clear, @OfficialABAT is preparing for another SELECTION, not an ELECTION!” he wrote.
Sowore further urged Nigerians to resist what he described as attempts to undermine democratic principles.
“Nigerians must begin preparing for a REVOLUTION to reclaim their rights, and their country! #RevolutionNow,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political tensions following a Federal High Court judgement that invalidated the Senator David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and nullified decisions taken by the party’s leadership, including the process that produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.
The judgement, delivered on November 5 by Justice Peter Lifu, directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to recognise the Mark-led leadership and its subsequent decisions.
The development has generated reactions from opposition figures, with several political actors accusing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to weaken opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The ADC has rejected the judgement and filed an appeal, alongside an application seeking a stay of execution pending the determination of the legal challenge.
The party has also urged INEC not to take further action based on the judgement while the appeal remains pending.
Sowore had previously accused Tinubu of using court cases and violence to frustrate opposition politicians seeking to challenge him in the next presidential election.

He specifically alleged that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was influencing judicial developments involving opposition parties.
The AAC presidential candidate also accused the government of deploying violence against political opponents who could not be stopped through legal means.
His latest comments also come days after he alleged that suspected political thugs linked to the Ekiti State Government House attacked him and members of his team in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Sowore made the allegation on October 30, shortly after an interview at MIDAS FM 90.5 in the state capital.
In a post on X, he accused operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) of providing tracking and operational support to the attackers.
“This is the level of infamy to which Nigeria has been subjected! Those who brutally attacked us in Ado-Ekiti today came from the Government House. They are well known, and they were provided with tracking and operational support by the DSS,” he alleged.
He also claimed that the security operatives had been monitoring and harassing him and members of his team before the incident.
However, the Ekiti State Police Command said Sowore and other persons affected by the incident were treated and discharged from hospital. The police also announced the arrest of 11 suspects in connection with the alleged attack, while investigations continued.
The Ekiti State Government denied involvement in the incident and called for an investigation.
