Security operatives in Anambra state have taken over the Second Niger Bridge following the recovery of the body of the House of Assembly member, Justice Azuka.
The lawmaker who was kidnapped in on Christmas 2024 eve while travelling for the holiday was murdered by his abductors.
A member of the Labour Party, Azuka’s decomposing body was dumped under the Second Niger Bridge on Thursday, February 6.
However, a joint team of security operatives have taken control of the location.
Spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga said an operation to apprehend the suspected killers of the lawmaker is ongoing.
He said, “In the early hours of today, 6/2/2025 at the second Niger Bridge, the Joint Security team comprising of Police and AVG Operatives on a mission to rescue abducted Hon. Azuka, Honourable State House of Assembly member representing Onitsha North, regrettably found his lifeless body at the scene.
“As soon as I get more details, I will keep you updated, as the joint security team has taken over the scene and an operation is ongoing for the possible arrest of the suspects involved,” Ikenga noted.
