Vatican announces date for Pope Leo XIV’s inauguration

The Vatican has announced a date for the inauguration of the newly elected Catholic Pontiff, Pope Leo XIV.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Vatican said Pope Leo XIV would be inaugurated on May 18, 2025.

According to the Holy See, an inauguration mass would be held for the new catholic leader at St. Peter’s Square.

Reeling out a litany of activities which would take place over a period of one week, the Vatican said the new Pope would have meetings with journalists, diplomats and cardinals.

In addition, it said Pope Leo XIV has requested that every leader in the state continue their duties until further notice.

Pope Leo XIV also maintains the needed amount of time for reflection, prayer, and dialogue before making any “definitive appointments or confirmations”.
