The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate removal of the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), Mr. Michael Ango.
The decision was disclosed late Friday through a statement issued by Lere Olayinka, the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media.
According to the announcement, the directive takes effect without delay.
Olayinka explained that Wike has instructed the most senior officer within the service to step in and oversee the agency pending further directives from the FCT Administration.
The statement emphasized that the transition is expected to be seamless to avoid disruptions in the revenue operations of the territory.
Although the FCT Administration did not give details on why Ango was removed, sources within the administration hinted that the minister has been carrying out internal adjustments aimed at tightening revenue processes and strengthening administrative efficiency across the territory.
The sudden change aligns with several recent shake-ups Wike has implemented since assuming office, especially in agencies connected to financial operations and service delivery.
Mr. Ango had been serving in acting capacity and had overseen key revenue functions before Friday’s announcement.
With his exit, attention is now on the FCT Administration’s next steps regarding the reforms underway in the revenue service.
