“A dangerous precedent” – Shehu Sani condemns killing of Miyetti Allah leader, son in Benue

Former Senator representing Kaduna central, Shehu Sani, has condemned the killing of Ardo Risku, leader of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Benue, and his son, Ibrahim.
In a statement on Saturday, Sani described the reported killing of the duo while returning from a peace meeting as a dangerous development that could undermine reconciliation efforts in Benue and other parts of the country.
His words: “The murder of MACBAN Benue leader Ardo Risku and his Son Ibrahim who were reportedly returning from a peace meeting is condemnable.
“Its a dangerous precedent that undermines any form of peace talks, reconciliation or resolution of the conflict not just in Benue but in other parts of the country.”
Sani said attacks on people participating in peace initiatives would discourage dialogue and frustrate efforts to resolve conflicts.
He also called for a thorough investigation into the incident and urged authorities to ensure those responsible are prosecuted.
“Killing people who voluntarily agree to sit on a table will not help the cause of peace. The killing must be thoroughly investigated and the culprits brought to justice,” he said.
