Ex-PDP Chairman Accuses Fubara of Betraying Rivers People by Joining Coalition

Former Rivers State PDP Acting Chairman, Robinson Ewor, has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of betraying the people of Rivers State by aligning with the political coalition led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Ewor made the allegation during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show, where he expressed disappointment over the governor’s political decisions and his handling of communication with residents of the state.

According to him, many Rivers people stood firmly behind Fubara during the prolonged political crisis that rocked the state because they believed the governor was being unfairly treated and prevented from carrying out his duties.

Ewor said the governor failed to clearly explain his position to the people who supported him throughout the dispute.

“It’s Fubara himself who betrayed the people of Rivers. If Fubara had been open, transparent, and communicated with the people of Rivers, I don’t think the women would have taken to the streets.

“I don’t think our leaders would have given him the level of support they did, including myself.

“I said several unprintable words against the FCT Minister believing that he was stopping Fubara from doing his work but at the end of the day, we discovered that it wasn’t so.”

The former PDP chairman said many political leaders and supporters risked their reputations while defending the governor during the height of the crisis because they believed he was fighting for the interest of Rivers people.

He maintained that the situation would have been different if Fubara had openly informed the public about his political direction from the beginning.

“Fubara is not open, up till now he is still not open. If he tells Rivers people this is where I stand, they won’t take all the risk they have taken, but he has let Rivers people know where.

“I thank God that he had led Rivers people back to the Rainbow Coalition.”

Recall that Governor Fubara on Wednesday declared open support for the Rainbow Coalition and called on his loyalists to join the political movement.

Speaking during a public event in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, the governor announced that the period of political confrontation in the state had ended.

“We have made peace in the state and today we have total peace. I am supporting our Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Tinubu is our President and he is the one we are supporting. Kingsley Chinda is the candidate I am supporting, and anyone who believes in me should support him and every candidate under the Rainbow Coalition.”

The governor also urged his supporters to embrace the new political reality and move forward.

“Some people say, ‘Stay back and let’s see what we can get before moving.’ There is nothing to gain here. I have already returned to the family. We need to move forward.”

Fubara further stated that political hostilities in Rivers State should be left in the past.

“The time for war is over. This is the time for peace, and that peace is taking us to another level.

“Sometimes, what you lose in one place, you gain elsewhere. This is about life. My position is clear. I will not be part of anything that will bring division to Rivers State.”

The governor’s declaration came months after a reconciliation process between him and Wike following a prolonged political dispute that split the state’s political structure into rival camps.
