JUST IN: Fayemi, Umahi test negative for COVID-19

Respite as come the way of Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State as he tested negative for Coronavirus. He made this known in a tweet on Saturday.

POLITICS NIGERIA had reported that the governor went on isolation eleven days ago after testing positive for the virus. He had also informed Ekiti citizens that he will be back very soon.

According to the governor, he took a subsequent COVID-19 test which came back negative. He reminded Nigerians of the need to sustain efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. He expressed gratitude for the prayers and good wishes received from well-wishers while the period lasted.

He tweeted: “After 11 days in isolation, I received news that my CoviD 19 repeat test came back negative. My sincere gratitude goes to God Almighty, my family, my medical team and all well wishers for the prayers and solidarity. We must continue to do all we can to tackle the pandemic. ”

In a related development, David Umahi, governor of Ebonyi, has also recovered from COVID-19.

In a statement issued on Friday, the governor disclosed that his daughter and three of his aides who contracted the virus, have also tested negative.

On July 4, Umahi had announced that himself, his daughter, and three of his aides, tested positive for COVID-19.

While calling on the people to cooperate with government to contain the spread of the virus, he thanked them for their support.
