Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has urged the opposition parties in the upcoming Ondo State Governorship Election to wait for another four years before contesting for the number one seat.
Speaking on Wednesday at the grand finale of the campaign rally of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu held at the Akure sports stadium, Bello asked Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Agboola Ajayi of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP to wait for their time.
The Kogi governor added the forthcoming election will be a landslide victory for the All Progressives Congress, APC in the state. Bello, a member of the APC, was chairman of the party’s governorship primary election committee in Ondo.
Bello delivered a local language chant that incites violence. The chant appealed to the people to vote Akeredolu for a second term in office and that those who refuse to do so may face consequences.
“It’s Aketi that we want as governor. What are they saying? Clean dirty away. What are they talking about? if you don’t want him as governor, them go hear am ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta,” he chanted in a Kogi dialect.
“Ta-ta-ta-ta-ta” is the rhythm of a rifle.
Bello did a similar chant during his re-election campaign in Kogi. The song became popular among the electorate as women sang it across the streets.
Governor Akeredolu thanked the people for the huge turnout for the rally. He assured the people of the state that his administration will continue to do more for the progress and development of the state.
