Seven alleged victims of the Lekki Shooting on Saturday appeared before the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution for Victims of SARS.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the panel will also be probing the alleged shooting of #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki tollgate by soldiers on October 20.
The victims, who were led by their lawyer, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika SAN, appeared before the panel to give their testimony on what happened at the Lekki Toll Gate.
Speaking before the Justice Doris Okuwobi (Rtd)-led panel, Olumide-Fusika told the panel that his clients wOULD be petitioning the Nigerian Army for their role in the shooting. The Senior Advocate, however, sought directions from the panel on how to proceed with the petition.
This development follows the arrival of the Officers of the Nigerian Army, 81 Division, at the venue of the probe into the alleged shooting of #EndSARS protesters. The Army had submitted the names of three Lieutenant Generals and a Lieutenant Colonel who will testify before the panel.
During its sitting on Saturday, the panel ruled that military officers that appeared before it can testify on the shooting that took place on October 20. The military officers are led by the Commander of 81 Military Intelligence Brigade, Victoria Island, Lagos, Brig. Gen. Ahmed Taiwo.
Others are Chief of Staff, 81 Division, Nigerian Army, VI, Lagos, Brig. Gen. Nsikak Edet; Commander, 81 Division Garrison, VI, Brig. Gen. Francis Omata; Commander, 9 Brigade, Ikeja, Brig. Gen. Musa Etsu-Ndagi; and Commanding Officer, 65 Battalion, Bonny Camp, VI, Lt. Col. Salisu Bello.
