JUST IN: Gombe House of Reps member dumps PDP for APC

A lawmaker of the House of Representatives, Inuwa Garba has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Garba, who represents Yamaltu-Deba Federal Constituency of Gombe State in the Green Chamber announced his defection on Friday, February 20, 2026.

Received into the party by Mohammed Yayaha, the Gombe State governor, Garba officially presented his APC membership card to the Governor.

Speaking during his visit to the governor, Garba said he obtained his party membership card from his ward in Lubo, Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area.

According to the lawmaker, he became a card-carrying member of the ruling party after his full integration into the progressive family.

He added that he was inspired to join the APC following the purposeful leadership and outstanding performances of the Gombe State governor.

He said that the reform-driven agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the leader of the party played a role in his decision.

In addition, the lawmaker noted that the ruling APC offers a more credible, stable and development-oriented platform capable of delivering sustainable growth, inclusive governance and lasting prosperity to Nigerians.

“The APC represents the future of progressive governance in Nigeria. I am convinced that under the leadership of Governor Inuwa Yahaya and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our people will continue to enjoy meaningful development”, Garba said.

Addressing the lawmaker and his supporters, Governor Yayaha commended his courage for leaving the PDP for the APC.

Describing his defection as an endorsement of the good works of the party, the governor further assured Garba of further substantial political gain that will consolidate the APC’s dominance in Gombe State.
