Qatar govt condemns killings, abductions in Zamfara community

The government of Stae of Qatar has condemned the recent killings and abduction of villagers mostly women and children from Tungan Dutse village in the Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Recall that some gunmen on motorcycles invaded Tungan Dutse village late on Thursday night to assault its residents.
It was gathered that the attack which continued into the next morning – on Friday – led to the killing of at least 50 people.
Also, a yet-to-be-ascertained number of people, mostly women and children were said to have been abducted during the invasion of the community by the gunmen.
In a statement issued on Monday, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said its government condemns the attacks targeted at the village in strong words.
It said, “The State of Qatar voices its strong condemnation and denunciation of the attack that targeted a village in Zamfara State, northwest of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which led to dozens of deaths and the abduction of several women and children.”
It also stated that Qatar reaffirms its committment to standing with the Nigerian government to reject violence, acts of terrorism against the people.
Further condoling with the Nigerian government, families of the victims of the attack, the State of Qatar prayed for the safe return of all the abductees and an immediate end to the killings.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates the State of Qatar’s stance rejecting violence, terrorism, and criminal acts, regardless of the motives and reasons.
“The Ministry expresses the State of Qatar’s condolences to the families of the victims, and to the government and people of Nigeria, wishing for the safety of the abductees,” it added.
The reaction from Qatar comes shortly after the African Union condemned the attack by the suspected terrorists.
In a statement shared by the AU on X, its Chairperson, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, decried the growing wave of violence in Zamfara State.
Youssouf also called for stronger joint efforts within the continent especially the West African region to prevent further bloodshed.
