War: “Why we targeted Gulf countries” Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria

The Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria, Gholamreza Mahdavi Raja has explained why Iran has continued to launch attacks against other Gulf countries in its war with the United States of America and Israel.

Raja while speaking during an interview with journalists in Abuja said Iran has always had a good relationship with countries around the Gulf region.

He, however, stated that the fact that these countries made their lands available for the US to establish their military bases makes them susceptible to attacks.

His words, “We have a very good neighbourhood relationship with Persian Gulf countries, we have a very good relationship.

“We are neighbours with those countries, so the point is, we respect these countries’ friendly relations with these Persian Gulf countries,” Raja said.

Stating that Iran was in legal right in bombing the countries in the Gulf region, Raja noted that the facilities established by America in these host country allows the US to carry out military-related operations.

“Some Persian Gulf countries as a host, they are the host of other military bases for the United States. And from those bases, those capabilities and those facilities, now they are doing military operations against my country from those bases.

“If Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and some other countries, so this is our legitimate right, to defend ourselves to attack those bases…

“We only attack those bases and this is our right, I mean, our legitimate right and we will do that because they provide those military bases for the United States,” he noted.

Recall that on February 28, Israel with support from the US launched its first attack in Iran killing the country’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

Khamenei’s death was confirmed by the Iranian government on March 1, following  Israeli airstrikes around Tehran which also aimed at high-ranking Iranian officials.

Since then, Iran has attacked over 10 Gulf countries, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates Qatar and Kuwait among others.

Speaking further on the attacks, Raja said, “Our late Supreme Leader mentioned, I think three weeks ago that if any war will occur in the coming days or weeks, we would threaten the United States and Israeli regime that this war would never be a war between Iran and the United States of Israel; this war would spread to the region.

“We conveyed this message clearly by the Supreme Leader to all countries, that they should be careful. If you attack my country, we will attack all interests of the United States in the region and we are doing this,” he added.
