Tinubu Reacts to Death of Former Super Eagles Coach, Adegboye Onigbinde
President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences to the family, colleagues, and associates of renowned football administrator and former Super Eagles head coach, High Chief Festus Adegboye Onigbinde, who passed away on Monday at the age of 88.
In a statement, President Tinubu extended his sympathies to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the National Sports Commission (NSC), professional peers, and fans of Chief Onigbinde, who distinguished himself as the first indigenous coach of the Super Eagles in 1982.
The President praised Chief Onigbinde’s contributions to the development of grassroots football and his efforts to strengthen football administration in Nigeria.
He also highlighted the historic leadership of the football icon, noting that he guided the Super Eagles to the Africa Cup of Nations final in 1984.
“Chief Onigbinde will be remembered for his discipline, integrity, foresight, and passion for the beautiful game,” President Tinubu said, praying for the repose of the departed and comfort for his family.
