JUST IN: ADC Ward in FCT Suspends Sen Ireti Kingibe Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

The Wuse Ward chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the Federal Capital Territory has suspended the senator representing the FCT in the National Assembly, Ireti Kingibe, over alleged anti-party activities.

The decision was announced during a meeting of the ward’s executive members held in Wuse, Abuja. Party officials said the suspension takes immediate effect and will remain in place indefinitely pending further review by the party leadership.

Speaking after the meeting, the Wuse Ward ADC Chairman, Kanayo Chukwu, said the action followed complaints raised against the senator by party members at the grassroots level.

According to him, the ward executives carefully reviewed the allegations before reaching the decision.

He stated that the party found the lawmaker culpable of “anti-party activities, insubordination and violation of party rules,” adding that such conduct could not be ignored by the leadership of the ward.

Chukwu explained that the matter had been discussed extensively by the ward leadership before the resolution was adopted. He noted that the decision was necessary to maintain discipline and internal order within the party.

Party officials at the meeting said the suspension would bar the senator from participating in ward activities or representing the party at the local level until further directives are issued by higher organs of the party.

The development is expected to generate political reactions within the FCT, where Kingibe remains one of the most prominent opposition figures.

The senator, who represents the Federal Capital Territory in the 10th Senate, had earlier joined the ADC after leaving the Labour Party amid internal disagreements within the opposition bloc.

Efforts to obtain an immediate response from the senator were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.

However, the matter may still be reviewed by the ADC leadership at the area council and national levels.
