The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is in an emergency National Executive Council meeting in Abuja on Thursday morning to consider the suspension of its strike action.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that a reliable source at the meeting said the NLC is considering suspending the strike in light of the meeting it had with President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday.
The NLC had announced a nationwide strike action beginning on August 2, 2023, to protest the removal of fuel subsidy and the government’s failure to meet the demands of workers.
However, a “fruitful” meeting with Tinubu on Wednesday night appears to have eased tensions between the government and the unions.
In a statement on Wednesday night, Tinubu pledged to meet the demands of workers.
