Two New Deaths, 20 Coronavirus Cases Recorded As Tally Hits 210

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says the country has recorded two news deaths and 20 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 210.

In a series of tweets via its Twitter handle on Friday, the center said the country recorded the two deaths in Lagos and Edo States.

The health agency made this known, hours after it confirmed six cases of coronavirus in Osun State and that some patients have been discharged in Lagos.

The NCDC tweeted, “Twenty new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Nigeria; 11 in Lagos, three in the FCT, three in Edo, two in Osun and one in Ondo.

“Two new deaths have been recorded in Lagos and Edo States.

“As of 10:30 pm on the 3rd of April, there are 210 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria.”

Currently, Lagos has 109 cases; FCT/Abuja- 41; Osun- 22; Oyo- eight; Akwa Ibom- five; Ogun – four; Edo – seven; Kaduna – four; Bauchi- three; Enugu and Ekiti- two cases each, while Ondo, Rivers and Benue have one case respectively.

A breakdown of the latest figure shows that 11 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Lagos, while three cases were confirmed in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Three cases were also reported in Edo and two in Osun, while Ondo State recorded its index case of the disease.

Meanwhile, the number of people who have recovered from the disease in the country has risen to 25.

This followed the news that four people, including a mother and her baby, had been discharged from the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital in Lagos.

On the sad note, the NCDC revealed that the death toll from COVID-19 in the country had doubled.

A total of four people have died from the disease, two new deaths were recorded in Lagos and Edo States.
