“Wike threatening convention venue owner” – ADC alleges

The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike is threatening the owner of Rainbow Event Centre where the party has booked for its 2026 National Convention.

Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC in a statement, late Monday said the party had paid for the venue and signed all contracts to use the facility.

He, however, said the owner of the event Centre returned to inform the party leadership that the Minister has threatened to revoke his licence should he allow the ADC to use his facility for their convention.

Abdullahi wrote on X, “ALERT 🚨  After paying all the fees required, setting up for our convention tomorrow,  the owner of Rainbow Event centre has just informed us that he has come under pressure from the FCDA and Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike that if he allows the ADC the use of his facilities, his licence will be revoked.

“But we have already signed the contract with him. We will hold our convention tomorrow as planned at the Rainbow event centre.

“We will not bow to this creeping tyranny. And definitely not to this petty tyrant. ADC is rising,  Nigeria is rising,” Abdullahi noted.

Recall that the coalition party’s 2026 National Convention has been scheduled to take place on Tuesday, April 14.

However, on Modnay, April 13, the party raised an alarm, raising an alarm claimed that its application to use Eagle Square in Abuja had yet to be approved, an allegation the minister has denied.

Also, late Monday, the ADC announced a new venue for its convention while alleging that all efforts to get the former location were frustrated by Wike.
