BREAKING: Rivers Chief Judge Rejects Assembly’s Impeachment Request Against Fubara

The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Chibuzor Simeon Amadi, has officially turned down a request from the State House of Assembly to constitute a seven-member panel to investigate Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

This request was part of the ongoing move by the lawmakers to impeach the Governor and his deputy over allegations of gross misconduct.

The lawmakers had approached the Chief Judge to fulfill the constitutional requirement of setting up a panel to probe these claims.

However, Justice Amadi clarified that his hands are tied by existing court orders. These judicial directives specifically barred him from entertaining any communication or taking further steps regarding the impeachment process initiated by the Assembly.

By adhering to these orders, the Chief Judge has effectively stalled the legislature’s push to remove the Governor from office, at least for the time being.

Recall, Politics Nigeria earlier reported that the Rivers State House of Assembly had previously issued an impeachment notice against Governor Fubara and his deputy, citing several constitutional breaches and financial impropriety as the grounds for their removal.
