Abuja residents threaten to sue AEDC over epileptic power supply

Some residents of Jikwoyi, a community in Abuja Municipal Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have threatened to take legal action against the management of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) over epileptic power supply in the area.

At a media briefing on Thursday, June 13, the community said they were giving three days ultimatum for the company to address the power outage in the area or face legal action.

Artisans, cottage industry and petty who operate with electricity are worst hit by the poor power supply.

One Peter Yahaya, a local welder who spoke to AIT_online says the situation has affected his business adversely.

While Peter and other business owners are worried of the perpetual blackout that is negatively affecting their business activities, the community is disturbed with the relatively high tariff charged by the AEDC whenever power is available.

They have given a three day ultimatum to the management of the AEDC to restore power to the community.

They are also calling on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyeson Wike and the Minister of power to prevail on the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company to restore power in Jikwoyi.
