Again, Delta gov visits community where 17 soldiers were killed, makes promise

Delta governor, Sheriff Oborevwori has met with leaders of Okuama-Ewu community in Ughelli South Local Government Area at the Government House Asaba today.

Recall that 17 military personnel were killed during a peacekeeping mission to the community in March.

The meeting, Politics Nigeria understands, was  part of efforts by the state government to persuade the people to relocate to the internally displaced persons camp.

The governor promised to start the rebuilding the community with a health center and six classroom blocks in the next few weeks.

He also said the state government would commence the boundary adjustment between Okuama and Okoloba immediately.

The governor had earlier visited the coastal community on April 20.

During the visit, Oborevwori assured the safe return of the indigenes who fled the community in the wake of the crisis.

The governor further reiterated that innocent people in the area would not be made to suffer for what they know nothing about.
