BREAKING: “A new campaign council list will be issued” – Peter Obi finally speaks

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 election, on Friday afternoon, promised that an updated Presidential Campaign Council list will be issued in due course.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that controversy yesterday trailed the Labour Party’s release of 1, 234 names for its presidential campaign council.

Some members of the party had earlier debunked a list purported to be the members of the council but a chieftain of the party, Doyin Okupe, who was announced the director-general of the Obi/Yusuf Baba-Ahmed Presidential Campaign unveiled a fresh list of 1,234 members.

The inclusion of Major General John Enenche (retd.), who described the Lekki shooting incident as being “photoshopped” and “cropped” also drew condemnations – even from Obi supporters.

Now, the presidential hopeful has reacted.

“I’ve received several calls of concern following the release of the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign Council list. Admittedly, there were some omissions and erroneous entries in the list, hence the concerns expressed,” Obi wrote on his verified Twitter handle.

“The Labour Party Chairman in the presence of members of the NWC addressed the issues during a press conference.

“In keeping with our commitment to accountability, responsiveness and transparency, an updated list will be issued in due course. I plead for patience.”

  1. The inclusion off major Gen. John Eneche on that list clearly shows that there are some people with questionable characters in the LP.
