A gang of Heavily Armed Robbers attacked a first generation bank with Dynamite, killing a police guard and carting away huge sums of money.
The robbers numbering about 10 stormed the bank in Ise-Ekiti on Thursday at about 2:30 pm, shooting sporadically. The robbers operated for at least 25 minutes after coming into the town with two vehicles through Ikere road.
The incident was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Ekiti state, Caleb Ikechukwu. According to Ikechukwu, the robbers succeeded in carting away an unspecified amount of money after gaining access into the bank’s vault.
The police spokesperson said; “I can confirm to you that a bank was robbed at Ise Ekiti this afternoon,”
“The robbers broke the security door with explosive material, precisely dynamite.
“Our men are on their trail and we shall ensure that none of them escapes. “Members of the public should go about their normal duties and be rest assured that we are ready to protect their lives and property at all times,” he said.
