BREAKING: Ayu told Saraki, Tambuwal to withdraw for Atiku – Wike opens up

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Friday said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, was partisan during the party’s presidential primary election in Abuja earlier this year.

POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that in May, Wike contested for the PDP presidential ticket in respect of the 2023 election, but lost to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former vice-president of Nigeria.

In a media chat this morning in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, Wike exposed people he called “bad characters” within the PDP.

The governor alleged that Ayu telephoned several presidential aspirants to withdraw for Atiku, who eventually won the PDP ticket.

He mentioned some of those contacted to withdraw for Atiku as former Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki; Bauchi Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed; and his Sokoto counterpart Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

The aggrieved governor stated that although he has “moved on”, he will not stop pushing for equity, justice and fairness in the PDP.
