Andrew Nice Omininikoron, the driver of a BRT bus that conveyed late Bamise Ayanwole has been remanded in prison custody until April 11th, 2022.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Omininikoron entered hot water after Bamise’s lifeless body was dumped on a major express road in Lagos. He was arrested shortly after when he didn’t show up for work the next day.

The suspect was arraigned before a Yaba Magistrate Court in Lagos at 12pm on Friday and was remanded following an application by the Police.

Police counsel, Yetunde Cardoso, premised the application on a four-count charge of alleged murder, sexual assault, misconduct and interference with a corpse.

Meanwhile, rights activist and lawyer to the deceased’s family, Barrister Ayo Ademiluyi, who is a Lead Partner at Newworth LLP, said Bamise’s family is requesting for an autopsy on the deceased corpse to ascertain whether her body was mutilated or not.

He said: “We want an autopsy to be conducted on her body in order for the facts to be ascertained whether her private parts or any of her organs was cut off.”

Bamise’s murder sent shockwaves across the country as BRT vehicles were largely perceived to be safe.
