The Court of Appeal in Sokoto State on Wednesday upheld the judgement that nullified the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that in a unanimous judgement by the panel of judges, Justice Muhammad Shuaibu dismissed the appeal filed by the gubernatorial flag-bearer of the PDP in Zamfara State for the 2023 election, Dauda Lawal, challenging the nullification of his candidature.

Justice Shuaibu said the appeal lacked merit.

Recall that Ibrahim Shehu, a gubernatorial aspirant of PDP in Zamfara state had challenged the emergence of Lawal, saying the poll that produced the latter was marred by irregularities and non-compliance with the PDP guidelines.

He approached a Federal High Court Gusau which subsequently nullified the primary and ordered the PDP to conduct a re-run election within 14 days.

Reacting to Wednesday’s verdict, Ndiana Anaka, a lawyer to the respondents, said the judgement was a victory for democracy and rule of law.

  1. Nigeria, I cry my beloved country. Even when Maj-Gen Buhari told the whole world at a recent UN forum that he’d leave a free & fair election legacy next year & this unequal patronage by his APC-led FG is now a reality – harassment & intimidation of LP cum its candidates particularly the presidential one.

  2. Fake apc prophet, because you are blind and can’t read the handwritten on the wall, grace is already speaking fir him and for this you said heaven can close against you if really you are a prophet, if you don’t know what to say just keep quiet and whatvh God finish what he has started.

  3. Only the weak jealouses the supreme. APC uses federal might to fight Labor party. Obviously, Nigerians are already fade up with APC and PDP. Peter Obi is the only qualified candidate to rule Nigeria.
