Officers of the Department of State Security Services, DSS have reportedly stormed the residence of the former chief of staff to Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki on Sunday.
POLITICS NIGERIA earlier reported that the former chief of staff, Taiwo Akerele resigned from his position amidst tensions between Obaseki and his predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole. Obaseki has since replaced Akerele with Ethan Uzamere.
However, the DSS operatives arrived the residence at about 5 PM in a bus and 3 other vehicles. They reportedly arrested an aide to Akerele, Jasper Olowojogba and raided the property located at 1st Ugbor road, Benin city.
As at the time of this report, Akerele and Olowojoba’s phone lines are unavailable and their whereabouts unknown.
“They called his PA severally that he should come and collect Akerele’s personal belongings so that the new Chief of Staff could resume but Olowojoba said he would come for them on Monday but he insisted and when he went they allowed him to remove all his belongings and when they were going with the last consignment, SSS went with him to Akerele’s house.”
“They ransacked his house and then went away with his PA but Akerele’s whereabouts were unknown”, a source close to Akerele, said.
