The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday morning brought Rochas Okorocha, a former Imo state governor, to the Federal High Court (FHC) Abuja, for arraignment over fraud charges.
POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that the EFCC had, on January 31, filed a 17-count charge against the former Imo governor before a federal high court in Abuja.
The courtroom was already filled to capacity as of 9 am, with several others standing as they await the commencement of the proceedings.
Okorocha, a 2023 presidential aspirant on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), was arrested last Tuesday after EFCC operatives broke into his Abuja home following a seven-hour siege.
The politician, who currently represents Imo West senatorial district in the National Assembly, is to be arraigned before Justice Inyang Ekwo.
