BREAKING: FG pays ASUU lecturers’ November salary, withholds arrears

Lecturers under the aegis of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (AUU) have received full salaries for the month of November 2022.

POLITICS NIGERIA also learned that the eight-month arrears remained withheld by the Federal Government.

A senior member of the union at the Bayero University Kano (BUK) said: “Some of our members have started receiving salaries and I can confirm to you that we received our full salaries for the month of November. However, the arrears are still withheld.”

The National Executive Council (NEC) of ASUU is expected to hold a crucial meeting in the coming days over the withheld salaries.

This newspaper had reported how ASUU called off its eight-month-old strike on October 14, 2022. However, disagreement over remuneration for the period the lecturers’ didn’t work means the dust is yet to totally settle.
