BREAKING: IGP Cracks Down on Unethical Practices, Suspends Special Promotions and Lobbying in Police Force

The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has suspended special promotions within the police.

The IGP announced the suspension on Wednesday, citing its detrimental effect on officers’ careers.

Egbetokun, visibly frustrated with the prevalent lobbying for special promotions, warned that any officer recommended for such promotions by external influences would face disciplinary action. Instead, the police management will handle special promotions when necessary.

The IGP also prohibited undue soliciting for postings and threatened to deal with offenders in accordance with the Force’s laws.

This development comes as 15 senior police officers were decorated with new ranks, including one Deputy Inspector-General of Police, 11 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, and three Commissioners of Police.
