Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress, APC after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.
Obaseki announced this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the meeting. It will be recalled that Obaseki was disqualified from contesting the Guber primaries of his party scheduled to hold on June 22.
The Party’s screening committee disqualified Obaseki over discrepancies in his HSC and NYSC certificates. Rumours of the governor’s defection to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP strengthened last weekend after he met with the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, who is a leader in the Opposition Party.
POLITICS NIGERIA has also reliably gathered that Obaseki may announce his membership of the opposition party shortly.
