BREAKING: Oyo Gov. Makinde arrives Yola, asks INEC to declare authentic winner of Adamawa election

The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has arrived in Yola, Adamawa State on a solidarity visit to Governor Umaru Fintiri.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that during his visit, Makinde appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare the authentic winner of the governorship election in Adamawa State.

On Sunday, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner Hudu Yunusa Ari controversially declared Aisha ‘Binani’ Dahiru, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the election, a move that was not within his constitutionally given authority.

This caused a lot of controversy in the state and across the country in general. The action has been condemned by many political parties, and INEC suspended the collation and ordered Ari to stay away from all activities of the electoral umpire and the election in Adamawa.

Makinde expressed his disappointment at the illegal declaration of the APC candidate as the winner of the election and called it unimaginable and a shame on the person of Ari.

He praised INEC for a job well done in Oyo State and expressed confidence that the electoral umpire would prove its neutrality in the Adamawa process. He also urged the people of Adamawa state to remain calm and assured them that the current situation would be resolved amicably.
