President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected a call by the Nigerian Senate to sack all serving service chiefs due to the recent spate of insecurity in the country.
On Tuesday, the Senate issued a resolution for the removal of the service chiefs, a resolution the President has now rejected.
In a statement sent to POLITICS NIGERIA on Tuesday, the Presidency notes that the removal of service chiefs can only be done by the President who is also the chief of armed forces.
“The Senate Tuesday adopted a resolution calling on the Service Chiefs to resign or be sacked due to the multi-pronged security challenges in the country.”
“The Presidency notes the resolution and reiterates that appointment or sack of Service Chiefs is a Presidential prerogative, and President Muhammadu Buhari, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, will do what is in the best interest of the country at all times.” the statement read.
Even the president it self deserves to be sacked.
Nigeria is heading to the way of Golgotha that will destroy her but no turning back for this country called Nigeria is destined to collapse.In the first instance do we even have a President and a Vice? Why can’t the Senate invite the Mr President to come and appear before them instead of being represented by the Presidency. It’s only by his appearing before the NASS that we shall know if we have a President at all and whether he’s the Muhammadu Buhari that we know. any thing short of that is unacceptable to us. Enough of using the Presidency to deceive us.
The affairs of a country is not a one man business. Pls Mr President, hear our cry and see deeply why we are crying.
This is something we definitely knw the president won’t do. Even when people were killed in katsina, nothing was done so Kaduna people should just come out and defend themselves because already the government have failed them
What Buhari is waiting for over the Chiefs resignation issues and the chiefs should known that it was theirs reputation and images getting sinking in the mud . And sooner or later when it’s too late they will realises it . Finally for theirs own interests and they have to prepares theirs ✋ handing over to theirs next .
Let him sack them please they’ve done what they can
