BREAKING: Senate Summons all Service Chiefs to a Closed Session Over Killings in Plateau State

The Senate has summoned all Service Chiefs to a closed session Over Killings in Plateau State.

The service chiefs were invited after a motion by Diiket Plang, senator representing Plateau central.

According to Plang, the attacks have displaced many residents in the LGAs.

In his take, Titus Zam, senator representing Benue north-west, lamented that the service chiefs did not have a grasp of the security situation in the country.

“Nigeria is in trouble,” Zam said.

“The service chiefs that appeared before this senate appeared to know what they were doing.

“Six months down the road it appears that there is no difference. I think we should call these service chiefs again. In my district, three LGAs out of seven are already overrun.”

Gunmen attacked remote villages over the weekend in Plateau state, killing at least 140 people.

The assailants targeted 17 communities in “senseless and unprovoked” attacks on Saturday and Sunday, burning down most houses in the area, Plateau Governor Caleb Mutfwang said in a broadcast.

Those invited are Taoreed Lagbaja, chief of army staff; Hassan Abubakar, chief of air staff; Yusuf Bichi, director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS); and Kayode Egbetokun, inspector-general of the police (IGP).
