Nigerian Soldiers have reportedly burnt down houses, shops, cars and a hotel in Awo Mma Mma, Oru East LGA after Unknown Gunmen killed a military officer on Monday.
It was gathered that the Soldiers were greatly annoyed over the killing of their colleague.
The incident which happened at Ishieke junction in the area has caused panic in the community.
Several have fled the community over the chaos. An Eyewitness told Punch; “some hoodlums attacked some soldiers at Ishieke junction in Awo Mmamma and killed one of them.
They zoomed off towards Ihiala in Anambra State. Later soldiers invaded the area and caused havoc in the area by setting a hotel, cars, houses and stalls on fire.”
Efforts to reach the police spokesperson for the state command, Micheal Abattam, for a statement on the matter proved abortive.
How many times have soldiers burned down houses, cars, filling station and hotels in Northern part in retaliation for losing a colleague or more to bandits, Boko Haram and or herdsmen
Nigerian soldiers are cowards and a big disgrace, go to all check points in the South East, observe their activities, you will weep, at gun point they extort money from motorist.
You can’t be extorting money, issues “charge” (balance) to those with high denominations and be battle ready. The Nigerian Army must pay for the atrocities of it’s men.
Why didn’t the same soldiers burn houses ,cars , hotels and other destruction being visited on the people of the south-east on the same terrorists called bandits that killed a brigadier general and three others in the north? What I don’t get here is , are the people killing battalions in the north different? The same soldiers are selling and giving Intel to terrorists and the bragado been displayed in the south-east is not seen in the north that has been completely destroyed. I don’t blame the soldiers, it is the useless south-eastern governors that keep selling their people out.
