BREAKING: Terrorists Kidnap High Court Judge’s Wife Near Adamawa Military HQ

The wife of a High Court judge, Zainab Abbas, has been abducted in Adamawa State.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the incident took place around 2 am on Wednesday at her residence in Nyibango.

This newspaper learnt that Nyibango, a neighbourhood adjacent to the 23 Brigade of the Nigerian Army headquarters in Yola, the state capital, has gained a notorious reputation for kidnapping for ransom and other violent crimes.

The residents of Nyibango are now living in palpable fear, considering leaving the area due to the frequency of attacks by kidnappers.

The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Zainab Abbas.

SP Suleiman Nguroje, the spokesperson for the command, stated, “The victim was kidnapped at her residence behind the Royal Ambassadors Hotel in the Nyibango neighbourhood.”

He further explained that the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, has deployed operatives from the Crack Squad, Special Rapid Response Team (SRRT), and other tactical units to carry out a strategic and intelligence-driven rescue operation.

“The deployed team is determined to ensure the arrest of the culprits, showcasing the commitment of the command to diligently prosecute offenders,” emphasised Nguroje.

He also revealed that the deployment would enhance the coordination of swift responses to distress calls and enable the crackdown on criminals.

In addition, the Commissioner of Police has instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations and Deployment to oversee the planned rescue operation.

It is also gathered that all divisional police officers have been directed to conduct thorough stop and search exercises in their respective areas of responsibility, particularly during nighttime, to establish complete control over public spaces, prevent criminals from escaping, and apprehend troublemakers.

Recall that this incident occurs merely two weeks after the abduction of Reverend Mike Ochigbo, a well-known televangelist, by local terrorists, commonly known as bandits, in the same Adamawa State.
