BREAKING: Tinubu orders Payment of Presidential Villa Electricity bill after Public Outcry

President Bola Tinubu has directed immediate settlement of outstanding electricity bill due to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company.

The President’s directive follows the reconciliation of accounts between the State House Management and AEDC.

Contrary to the AEDC’s initial claim of N923million debt in paid advertorial in newspapers, the State House outstanding bill is N342, 352, 217.46, according to a letter by the management of AEDC to the State House Permanent Secretary dated February 14, 2024.

Having reconciled the position to the satisfaction of both parties, the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has given assurance that the debt will be paid to AEDC before the end of this week.

Following the example of the Presidency, Chief of Staff also urged other MDAs to reconcile their accounts with AEDC and pay their electricity bills.

POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that the President faced widespread criticism from Nigerians after the AEDC published the outstanding bill on a national daily.

  1. I have reasons to believe that the spooky ghost of Mohammadu Buhari administration has once again impeded Bola Tinubu, the Asiwaju of the grandchildren of Lamurudu not to pay the presidential villa’s electricity bills since all they do is to point accusing fingers at past administration for their woeful failures. Is it the ghost of Mohammadu Buhari’s administration that is cursing the so called leaders of government and their ministries to be so irresponsible?
If these so called leaders can be unfaithful in little things like prompt payment of bills of services rendered to them by electricity companies, do you think the Lamurudus would be faithful in big things like “honesty in governance ” a key ingredients to successfully guiding Nigeria out of this economic and political quagmire?

  2. If God did not punish Nigeria political class for her sins of hipocrisy. God would have appologoise for the people’s of Sodom and ghomorha.
