The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike on Sunday supervised the demolition of two hotels in the state for violating a lockdown order put in place by the state government.

Prodest Hotel, Eleme and Etemeteh Hotel, Onne have both been pulled down. The governor had imposed a lockdown and directed all hotels in the state to shut immediately in order to curtail the spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus.

The demolition started by about 11:58 AM today, May 10, 2020, when a Bulldozer moved into the facility of Prodest hotel, bringing the entire structure to rubble.

The governor had warned residents that failure to comply with the order would attract stiff penalties. It will be recalled that a few days ago, the governor intercepted trucks carrying cows and several passengers into the state.
