BREAKING: Women join massive protest at Nat’l Assembly, demand annulment of Tinubu’s victory [PICS]

Some protesters have stormed the National Assembly, demanding the cancellation of the February 25 election which produced Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president-elect.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the protesters, including women, carried placards with the inscriptions such as ‘Save our Democracy’, “INEC + Corruption, Politicians are killing our Democracy,” and “INEC killing the Nigerian Democracy.”

Controversies had trailed the outcome of the presidential election where Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party flag-bearer, Peter Obi, who got 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 votes, respectively.

“What we are doing today is a peaceful protest and it is allowed in Democracy. The reason for our protest is that the Independent National Electoral Commision, INEC, wants to hold us to ransom, and we will not accept that.

“We are satisfied with starting afresh,” a protester, Juliet Oboshi said.

This newspaper reports that the opposition have vowed to reclaim its “stolen mandate”.
