Coronavirus: RCCG complies with restrictions in Lagos, Ogun

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has complied with the directives of the Lagos and Ogun State governments banning religious gatherings of more than 50 persons.

The two states arrived at the decision in order to curb spread of the pandemic, coronavirus.

This paper recalls that eight coronavirus cases have been detected in Nigeria, majority of them are travelers who arrived Nigeria via Lagos.

The church made this known in a memo obtained by POLITICS NIGERIA, which was addressed its Lagos and Ogun State branches.

The memo was signed by the Assistant General Overseer on administration, Pastor J. F Odesola.

“We refer to the directives from the Lagos and Ogun State governments placing a ban on all religious meetings of more than 50 Worshippers in Lagos part of the precautionary steps and towards managing the further spread of the coronavirus disease gatherings.”

In line with the directive from the government, the Church authorities instructed as follows;

“Parishes that have an average attendance of 50 members or less can hold their services without any alteration or changes while Parishes that have an average attendance above 50 members are directed to make use of their House Fellowship Centres to run simultaneous services with the main Church.”

“One Supervising Minister and an Usher could be seconded to each Centre for collation of necessary reports attendance new concerts…”

Meanwhile, all centres are requested to connect to Dove Television for live broadcast from the General Overseer during the period.
