COVID-19: FG Reacts To Alleged Maltreatment Of Nigerians In China

The Nigerian Government has outrightly condemned the alleged maltreatment of some Nigerian businessmen in China.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that some Nigerians who had travelled to China for business purposes were reportedly chased out of their hotel rooms by the Chinese authorities.

This was also alleged that some Chinese were stigmatising Nigerians who are the Asian country after a ban on international flights into Nigeria was placed.

However, Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, summoned the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Zhou Pingjian, over reports of alleged maltreatment of Nigerians in China.

Onyeama, on his Twitter handle, said he met with Pingjian on Thursday to discuss the issue of maltreatment and called for the immediate intervention of the Chinese Government on the issue.

The minister said he also expressed the concern of the Nigerian government over the allegations of maltreatment.

“Invited the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Zhou Pingjian to communicate Nigeria’s extreme concern at allegations of maltreatment of Nigerians in Guangzhou, China and called for immediate Chinese Govt. intervention,” he tweeted.
